Aftercare for Semi-permanent Makeup

For 2 to 10 days after treatment, the procedure area may experience the following symptoms:

Flaking, Tenderness, Dryness and itching, Swelling and Redness.

For at least 7 days after a procedure or until the area appears to be healed, include the following daily routine:

Apply the provided “REPAIR CREAM” to the area at least 3 times a day using a cotton bud.  Use a clean cotton bud each time to avoid infection.

DO NOT get your eyebrows wet and sweat at least 7 days to heal the scars properly.

DO NOT use makeup on eyebrows for 7 days and in the case of eye procedures use a new mascara to prevent infection.

DO NOT apply Vaseline – this will make the area sweat, allowing the pigment to heal incorrectly during the 7 day healing process.  Vaseline can be applied after the 7-day period and is recommended if you plan to use chlorinated pools and Jacuzzis.  When your permanent cosmetics are in contact with strong chemicals use a protector.

DO NOT itch, pick, scratch or rub the area or the colour will heal unevenly or cause scarring and infection.

DO NOT expose the area to extreme heat or extreme cold until healed.  This includes sunbathing, tanning beds, saunas etc.

REMEMBER the colour is up to 50% darker straight after the treatment.  It will fade after 4 to 7 days and the true colour will not come through until up to 4 weeks after the initial treatment.  During the healing process, the colour may seem to have disappeared as it is obscured by the healing skin.  Under no circumstances should you have further permanent cosmetic work undertaken during the 4 weeks period.

In order to keep your semi-permanent makeup tattoo work in perfect condition it may be necessary to have a maintenance procedure about every 12 to 18 months, though this will vary for each individual.  The cost of these procedures is roughly half that of the original procedure.  Please see current price list for details.

To avoid pigment fade for as long as possible, avoid excessive exposure to the sun or UV rays and use a good sunscreen or moisturiser with an SPF15.

Laser hair removal can fade and change the shade of your lips or brow procedures, always advice the laser technician you are wearing semi-permanent makeup tattoo and they can act accordingly.

The next days I felt like I had tired eyes, like a hangover.  My eyes were slightly puffy; though this subsided by lunchtime and by that evening they were back to normal.”

“After a few days the pigment started to come off in strips, like flaking but it did not hurt.  I was completely back to normal after a week.”

Swelling differs with each individual. To eliminate the swelling you can place ice on the treated areas every hour for about 10 minutes. Make sure you are rolling the ice – do not leave in one area.  An additional pillow is advisable when sleeping that evening.  Do not use eyelash curlers for 7 days after the procedure.  New mascara has to be purchased but not to be used until approximately 7 days after the procedure.

“ I felt silly for the rest of the day with darker eyebrows as mine were very light before the procedure.  The next day I had got used to them and they had faded a lot.  I felt no pain during the procedure or afterwards.  The colour disappeared completely after a few days and it took two weeks to start to come back.”

Your eyebrows need to be gently blotted to remove excess body fluids to eliminate crusting.  Make sure you wash your hair with your head tilted backwards to stop water running down you face.  Do not try to hide you eyebrows with your fringe in the first 2 days, this is the easiest way to cause infection – keep you fringe away from your eyebrows.

Your procedure may need a retouch to ensure perfect pigmentation.  A free touch-up is included in the cost of you procedure and must be undertaken between 4 weeks and 8 weeks after the initial treatment.  It is your responsibility to book this appointment.   Failure to attend a scheduled touch-up appointment or give 24 hours notice of cancellation of a touch-up appointment will waive your rights to a free procedure.

If you fail to attend a free touch-up appointment within 8 weeks, touch-up treatments will be charged at $20 per month from last paid treatment. (E.g: The initial treatment : 10th of Oct, Touch-up treatment should be done by 30th of Nov/ After that day, the additional fee occur every month.)
